From grassroots organizing and education justice to African diasporic histories and the politics of artificial intelligence, these powerful films challenge us to confront systems of repression, honor the people building alternatives, and imagine what becomes possible when our communities come together to demand change.

As the National Event of DSC’s 2026 National Week of Action Against School Pushout, Assembly Required is more than a film festival—it’s a space to connect our movements, learn from generations of resistance, and envision a world where our schools nurture our communities instead of policing, punishing, and pushing our young people out.
